The Australian government has announced that there will be a cap on the work hours that is permitted for foreign students studying in Australian Universities. Furthermore, the right for foreign students to work unrestricted hours would end after 30 June 2023.

In the official statement, the Australian Government said that “From July 2023, the number of working hours for international students will be capped again. The number of hours will be revised with a view to finding the right balance between work and study”

Moreover, the government had already announced the extension of post-study rights for international students to accommodate their skill shortage issues. Previously the government had also announced a stimulus package of AUS$36 Million to enhance the visa procedure for students, thus ensuring the reduction of delays that students face when they apply for visas. For the most part, the Ministry of Immigration has publicly released the 2023 Migration program, whose main purpose is to promote economic recovery from Covid.
